Hep b vaccine schedule for infants

Hepatitis B is among the most common causes of liver cancer, and it is a global health problem and is more prevalent than acquired immunodeficiency virus (AIDS), hence the importance of the hepb vaccine, Dear mother, get to know with us the vaccination schedule against hepatitis B, immunization methods, and its importance to the health of infants.

Hepb vaccine is produced using genetic engineering techniques by separating one type of antigen (Type S) of the hepatitis B surface antigen virus, incubating it in preservative cells, then purifying and sterilizing it and producing a sterile drug ready for injection.

This vaccine is a recent, third generation hepatitis B vaccine, also known as (Sci B Vac), as it contains three types of virus antigens:

S antigen (S).

Pre-S1 antigen.

Pre-S2 antigen.

These antigens are incubated inside the body of the hamster.

The vaccine is an active vaccine that leads to the production of antibodies to the virus that causes hepatitis B and prevents the development of the disease and its chronic complications, such as: liver tissue necrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer.

It is given to adults at risk of contracting the virus by touching body fluids or blood from a person carrying the virus, such as: doctors, AIDS, and immunodeficiency disease.

Vaccination isn’t a cure for hepatitis B and it doesn’t protect against other types of hepatitis.

Advantages of immunization by Sci B Vaccine

The advantages of vaccination with the hepatitis B Sci B Vac over the vaccine containing only the C antigen include the following:

It stimulates the production of antibodies quickly and in greater quantities.

The strong and rapid immune reaction gives a special advantage to people in groups at risk of infection, such as: immunodeficiency patients and medical staff.

It produces special antibodies that stimulate virus clearance and prevent its clotting in liver cells.

Contributes to reducing or preventing the immune reaction that is issued by genetic mutations in the virus.
